IT’S a go-to restaurant for many people in need of a chicken fix – but one foodie has revealed that she no longer joins the queue at Nando’s.
Instead, the lady named Becs said she has perfected making her own replica dish in the air fryer – and that the results are just as good.
Becs, who runs a foodie TikTok account called @becs.bites, unveiled her fail safe recipe on the social media platform.
And she promised fellow Nando’s lovers that they were in for a treat, as she described the peri-peri chicken as the “juiciest” she’d had.
And you only need around half an hour to prep and cook, which is just as good as being in the restaurant yourself.
Lifting the lid on her failsafe step by step guide, Becs explained: “Simply hasselback some chicken breasts – I usually find 4-5 cuts is enough – and sprinkle over your @Nando’s UK & Ireland seasoning of choice.”

Once the chicken is prepared and the spices rubbed into the meat, she continued: “Add in some pieces of halloumi into each slit.
“I used about 50g here and I like to use a light halloumi- you only need half a slice per slit.”
Becs then shared how she ensures the halloumi is a main component of the dish but cutting to be half the length but maintaining its thickness.
She added: “Then mix 2 tsp Nandos sauce of your choice and 2 tsp honey (per breast).

“You can probably do this without the honey in this one, but I do find it helps it all stick, and adds a lovely sweetness too!”
Becs encouraged her 70.9k followers to “brush this all over the chicken and halloumi, getting right in the cracks” to ensure full flavour.
After that, the chicken is ready to be cooked – which is where the air fryer comes in.
The foodie said: “Air fry for around 18-22 mins at 180 (will depend on how thick your breasts are.”
Then as soon as the timer goes off, and you’ve checked the chicken is thoroughly cooked and white through, it’s time to tuck in.
And the result? Becs revealed: “You get the JUICIEST chicken! And lovely crispy halloumi.”
There’s then plenty of different ways to dish up your chicken, including popping it into a wrap or pitta, if that’s your chosen meal in the restaurant.
But Becs said she’d opted to serve hers alongside some griddled tender stem, and homemade Nandos style fries, which she’d also cooked in the air fryer.
And one of the best parts of the whole recipe is that it is low-calorie.
Becs said: “The chicken is approx 313 cals / 52g protein and the whole meal (with broccoli and fries) is approx 470 cals / 57g protein.”
The fakeaway idea immediately got the thumbs up from many on social media.
