I transformed my council house kitchen for under £40 – I was dead proud, then trolls said it looked better BEFORE | The Sun

A WOMAN has revealed that she has transformed her council house kitchen for just £40.

Using cheap buys from the high-street, Shannon Blakemore, a 26-year-old mum from the UK, was able to give her home a total makeover.

However, while Shannon is thrilled with the result, not everyone was as keen.

Sharing her kitchen’s overhaul on social media, Shannon wrote: “Transform our council kitchen for under £40.”

At the start of the clip, Shannon shared pictures of her kitchen prior to its overhaul.

With boring beige cabinets and plain white tiles, the space was in need of some love.

We then saw Shannon’s partner get to work on the mega makeover.

He started out by painting the cabinets grey and using a grout pen to freshen up the tiles.

After this, he also painted the panels white, to really brighten up the space.

Showing off the finished kitchen, which we think looks fabulous, Shannon wrote: “Over the moon with the results.”

Shannon explained that she has lived in her council house for three months and spoke to the council to get permission, prior to her kitchen’s overhaul.

She wrote: “We've lived here for three months.

“[I] just spoke to them, they said it's fine I can decorate anything however we want, only need permission if ripping out old one and putting in new one.”

The savvy woman then confirmed that she used Johnstone’s chalky furniture paint from B&M to give her cupboards a fresh feel.

She explained that prior to painting, she “sanded very lightly, [for] 15 seconds a cupboard, but you don't have too.”

The DIY enthusiast later wrote: “We are going to change the counters and the floor. I just haven't decided which ones yet.”

The TikTok clip, which was shared under the username @shanbx96, just one day ago, has clearly left many stunned, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 192,600 views.

However, social media users were divided at the finished space – while some were impressed and thought it looked great, not everyone was as keen.

One person said: “Love it.”

Another added: “Nice one.”

However, not everyone was as kind.

One user wrote: “Cheap.”

Whilst a second chimed in: “Looked better before.”
