I’m a fashion fan and haven’t bought a purse in six years… instead, I turn tiny scarfs into chic handbags | The Sun

A CLEVER woman has discovered a simple method to turn any scarf into a handbag and claims it holds a huge amount of items too.

Sam, who lives in California, often uses her social media account to share her top tips and tricks around beauty, fashion and lifestyle.

In one clip, she explained that she hadn’t bought a bag in six years as she’s been waiting to get one from luxury designers.

“I’m refusing to buy a purse until I’m offered a Birkin,” she shared.

“I haven’t bought a bag in over six years… No Chanel, no Bottega, no Louis Vuitton, not even the Hermès bags.”

Sam then shared that while she’s been waiting for her dream bag, she’s been using pocket squares and scarves as placeholders.

I love designer bags, I spent £15k on one I can carry my baby’s things in

Demonstrating how she turned a tiny piece of fabric into a handbag, she said you’ll need a pocket square and the Hermès mini mors ring.

The ring costs a whopping £130 from the brand, but you can find similar ones from Etsy for just £19.

She then twisted each corner of the square and tied them around the rings to create a little scoop, perfect for placing her belongings in.

“I realised the shape of this mini bag reminded me a lot of the mini Jodie from Bottega,” she continued.

“And while the Jodie probably has more structure, this will hold just as many things. It held my wallet, my AirPods, my keys and this very chic grocery bag from Hermès that I was offered at a pop-up for free… So I didn’t technically break my bag rule.

“There you go…”

In the caption, TikTok user @sommyyah added: “Bag hack for the bagless. I understand this is complete lunacy”.

People were quick to comment as one person wrote: “i thought she said until i’m offered a bargain and i was like yes frugal queen and then she kept talking and i was like oh”.

Another joked: “Going to carry a paper towel and a safety pin instead of using a bag,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

Some were on the exact same page as her as one person wrote: “Going to carry a paper towel and a safety pin instead of using a bag,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

And others suggested she simply get herself a cheaper handbag while she waits for a Birkin.

“Could you not just use like, a normal leather £100 bag in the mean time? Surely they’re not more likely to give you a bag because you have no bag?,” one person questioned.

While another said: “you can get cute purses for under $100 at Marshall’s and target”.

The Birkin bags are notoriously difficult to get a hold of with each store handling the sale differently.

What is known, however, is that you need to have a personal shopper from one specific store that you go to and develop a relationship with.
