I’m a mum-of-five & our council house was a dump when we moved in – now it looks incredible thanks to Poundland & B&M | The Sun

THERE’S no feeling better than having a newly decorated home.

And for those who have attempted a revamp, you will know just how costly it can be.

But one savvy mum-of-five has managed to turn her home into a luxury place to live and has managed to do it on a budget as well.

Rachelle Knowles moved her family into a council house in February earlier this year, and has since spent her time redecorating the place.

She has used bargains from budget stores including B&M and Poundland.

Rachelle has shared her revamping process to her 43.9k TikTok followers.

In one video, she wrote: “Literally so proud of how much we have achieved in this house since we moved in!

“(It) Was the best decision ever moving. We love our home and it's all starting to come together, so much more to do but so so worth it all.”

In another clip she shared on her social media page, Rachelle begins it by showing photos of her kitchen before she did a makeover to it.

It had black countertops with chips, cupboards and flooring which was in need of some TLC.

Rachelle explained that she applied d-c-fix 'Ribbeck Oak' vinyl to the countertops, which can be purchased for as little as £2.30 from B&Q, and used white stick on tiles from Poundland for the walls.

She painted the kitchen cupboards with Rust-Oleum washable Matt furniture paint and completed the look by applying LED lights from B&M under the top cupboards.

Her videos have attracted millions of views with thousands often commenting their thoughts.

One wrote: “It’s shocking the council has not redone that place before giving you the keys.”

Another asked: “Where's your sofa from looks lovely xx”

To which Rachelle replied: “DFS.”

A third said: “It’s so refreshing to see people doing a realistic fix up rather than just throw 1000s at it. Thank you! It’s beautiful xx”

A fourth added: “I work for a housing association, seeing this makes me feel good.

“Should never have been handed to you like that well done for your hard work.”
