YOUR bedroom is your own sleeping sanctuary but the colour of your walls can impact your ability to get a good night's rest.
Some colours are too energetic, while others can make your room even feel cold, dark and depressing.
Home expert Rob Nezard from UK Radiators has been helping homeowners transform their bedrooms into cosy retreats.
He says one of the most common mistakes people make in their homes is the colours of their bedrooms.
Creating a harmonious bedroom is all about balance, he says.
And to help you avoid any mistakes, Rob is sharing his top tips on the seven colours to avoid and possible alternatives to enhance the ambience.
Bright Red
A bright red can be a bold and energetic colour but it can be too stimulating for a bedroom.
Rob suggested trying a more muted tone like a coral or terracotta to add some warmth to the space.
He says: "It can make it challenging to relax and unwind after a long day.
"Instead, opt for soft, muted shades of red like coral or terracotta.

Electric Blue
Blue is often associated with calm and tranquillity but electric and neon shades are too intense.
A softer, more calming shade can actually help you sleep.
Rob says: "Instead, consider calming shades like soft blue, aqua, or seafoam green.
"These colours evoke a sense of serenity and promote better sleep."
Neon Yellow
Neon yellow is another high-energy colour that can disrupt your bedroom.
It's better to go with softer shades like a pale yellow or a buttercream.
Rob says these colours bring in a cheerful and inviting vibe without being overpowering.
Pure White
While a pure white wall can create a clean and minimal look it can actually make it feel cold and clinical.
Instead warmer shades like ivory can bring a warm, and cosy feeling while keeping the clean feel.
Rob explains: "Choose warm, off-white shades like ivory, cream or beige as these colours provide a sense of comfort and cosiness while still maintaining a clean aesthetic.
Deep Black
Black is an elegant and sophisticated choice but it can be a very dominant colour to use in a bedroom.
It can make the space feel dark and depressing.
So, to achieve a similar level of drama you should try using a deep charcoal grey or a navy blue instead.
Rob said: "These colours maintain a sense of depth and richness without being too heavy."
Neon Green
Just like neon yellow, neon green can be an overwhelming and even jarring colour in your bedroom.
More muted tones of green like sage or mint are much better if you wish to go with a green colour.
Rob says: "Go for something that will create a soothing and refreshing atmosphere, perfect for relaxation."
Hot Pink
Hot pink is a vibrant and attention-grabbing colour.
But it may not be conducive to a good night's sleep.
Rob suggests going for blush or soft rose tones to reduce the intensity.
He said: "Go for blush pinks or soft rose tones.
"These colours bring a touch of femininity and warmth to the room without being too intense."
Rob says choosing the right colours can transform the space.
And while these colours should be avoided for your bedroom walls you can still include them inside your room.
He adds: "While these colours may not be ideal as the primary colour in your bedroom, you can still incorporate them as accents through bedding, artwork or accessories.
"By choosing the right colours, you can transform your bedroom into a cosy and inviting space that promotes relaxation and restful sleep."
