A 21-YEAR-old has revealed how she was quoted £5,000 to get in-built alcove cabinets – but did herself using an Ikea bargain.
Savvy Grace said she saved thousands on her DIY project, which wasn’t too hard to achieve.
On her @graceblairx account, she wrote: “Alcove unit hack to save you some money.
“We went for this Besta unit from Ikea.”
The unit she chose, which had double doors, cost just £145, and represented a huge saving for Grace.
She added: “It will include all the bits you need in order to build it and where to pick it up from at your local store.”

Once the unit was in place, it was time to raise it to the desired height using some adjustable feet from Toolstation.
Then she needed to add a wooden frame around it to fill the gap around the edge.
Grace headed to B&Q and got MDF wood that was 18mm thick and was cut to their measurements.
They added the frame and wooden top, and after priming the wood, gave it three coats of white paint.
