We're changing our week-old baby's name – call us crazy but the original didn't suit her & now I'm not heavily medicated | The Sun

A MOTHER has revealed how she decided to change her daughter's name a week after she was born.

She said people call her parenting choice "crazy," but insists the name didn't suit her baby.

Kaci Diggers (@caseyandkaci) filmed herself explaining the change in a video on TikTok.

"I had a baby a week ago, and we are changing her name. We never really decided on a name," she said.

"Then I ended up having her five weeks early at 35 weeks, so we had even less time to think about her name than we thought we were going to have," she added.

She revealed that although she ultimately changed her baby's name, she still loves the original.

"But we named her Murphy, and we still absolutely love that name. But she literally just doesn't look like a Murphy," she said.

"I don't know how to explain that, but we just don't really feel like the name suits her that good. So we're changing it.

"When we go to doctor's appointments or when family or whoever has been calling her Murphy. It just didn't feel right," she added.

Kaci revealed that her other children helped come up with the new name.

"There is one name that the kids have been calling her since we got home from the hospital. Kind of fell in love with it. It is one of the names on our list of names that we like," she said.

"We print on our paperwork, and we're going to mail in all the documents today.

"I know that we're going to get some backlash and some rude, negative comments, but I just come to realize that our baby having a name we love is way more important than what internet thinks.

"You can call us crazy, because we probably are.

"But now that she's been here for a week and I'm not heavily medicated anymore, and we've really gotten to spend time with her and see just how sweet she is.

"We have the perfect new name for her that we think suits her perfectly," she added.
