EastEnders’ Lacey Turner’s life off screen from stunning wedding to famous sisters

Lacey Turner is best known to us for her role as Walford resident Stacey Slater in BBC’s EastEnders, but the actress' life off screen couldn’t be further from that of the fiery Stacey.

The 35 year old first won the hearts of the nation when she was cast in the soap back in 2004 as a mere 15 year old.

Since then, her character has been involved in a slew of dramatic storylines that have firmly placed Lacey as one of the most beloved characters in EastEnders history.

While her character may have seen her fair share of hardship, the soap star’s life off-screen has thankfully been much kinder.

Here, we take a closer look at the star's life from her fairytale wedding to her famous sisters…

The Early Years

Born Lacey Amelia Turner on March 28 1988, the star is the eldest of three children born to Catholic parents Bev and Les, in Edgware, North London.

However, despite being born in London, she was primarily raised in Hertfordshire alongside her two younger sisters, Daisy Turner and Lily Harvey – just a stone’s throw away from the exterior set of EastEnders at Elstree Studios.

It was the close proximity to the studio that initially sparked her interest in acting, with Lacey even recalling to the Mirror back in 2006, as she said: "From my bedroom window you could see part of the square [the external filming lot for EastEnders], and you could hear them all filming at night. I used to say to my mum: "I wanna be on that!"

With her dream firmly planted in her mind, at the age of 10, Lacey enrolled in the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but left after just one year at the prestigious stage school, as she admitted it “wasn’t my cup of tea.”

Famous sisters

It isn’t just Lacey that was bitten by the acting bug, as both of her younger sisters Daisy, 33, and Lily, 22, also set out to forge careers the spotlight – with great success.

Following in their sister's footsteps, Daisy joined rival soap Hollyoaks on Channel 4 in 2011, starring as blonde beauty Jenny Houston.

Meanwhile, Lily appeared in EastEnders from February 2011 to July 2012 as Shenice Quinn.

Recalling her acting experience in an interview with the Liverpool Echo, Daisy told the publication: “All three of us do it. Lacey and I acted as kids. Our mum, Bev, let us do everything – singing, dancing and acting.

“I was at home with my mum and sisters when I got the call to say I’d got the part. Lacey said if I need her, she is there,” she continued.

“I suppose there is a bit of pressure because she is very good at what she does. She has done it for years and I am just starting out.”

Fairytale wedding

While Stacey may often be unlucky in love, Lacey was able to find the man of her dreams in Matt Kay, with the pair having dated each other since Lacey was just 15 years old.

The loved up couple decided to take their relationship to the next stage in September 2016, when Matt romantically proposed during a gondola ride in Venice.

Twelve months later, Lacey and Matt tied the knot in a sun soaked Ibiza ceremony on 2 September 2017.

Although a traditional wedding may have been expected, the couple decided to mark the special day in their own way – and that included breaking a few traditions.

Speaking exclusively to OK! at the time, Lacey revealed that she and Matt spent the night together before their wedding.

She said: "Originally Matt was going to stay with his mum down the road but we thought that, as we hadn't done much that was traditional, we might as well just stay together! It felt special to wake up on the morning of our wedding day together.

“I probably wouldn't have slept as well anyway if I didn't have Matt there.”

In another break from tradition, Lacey also revealed she had been walked down the aisle by both her parents, in a sweet but sentimental moment.

Explaining her decision, Lacey added: "I know it's tradition to walk down the aisle on the arm of your dad, but my mum's been such a massive part of my life and I wanted everyone to see her walk down the aisle too."

Stunning home

Since tying the knot, Lacey and Matt now live together in a stunning Hertfordshire pad, where they are happily raising their two children, Dusty Violet Kay, four, and Trilby Fox Kay, two.

Although little is known about the star’s home, fans have been treated to several glimpses inside the luxury property thanks to Lacey’s fairly frequent social media posts.

In terms of her taste, the actor seems to have a very eclectic eye, with every room following a different theme.

For example, the living room features a statement leopard print wallpaper, plus a velvet orange ottoman.

However, her and Matt's bedroom is a far cry from the 70s vibes of the communal area, and instead oozes a luxury feel, complete with a plush grey bed and large fluffy cream rug.

Their outside space also screams luxe vibes, thanks to the large outdoor seating area featuring mismatched cushions and throws.

All in all, it seems like Lacey, Matt, Dusty and Trilby are living their best lives…
