‘One month ago today you dumped a bottle of Tito’s down the drain and have not looked back since,’ her husband, Jordan Torrey, said while she cried at the opening of the now-viral video.

Jaclyn documented going sober throughout different points of her journey, explaining how she felt at the start, halfway in, and when she was nearing three months.

‘You are a completely different functioning person and I’m so proud of you,’ Jordan praised.

‘This is the most exciting video that I’ve ever posted,’ she added, before diving into what led to her giving up alcohol.

Jaclyn said she was ‘drinking like everybody else’ before going through a traumatic experience when she launched her lipsticks, which was ‘the worst time’ of her life in 2019, when she was forced to address her fans claims that the lipsticks she was selling were ‘contaminated’ and moldy.’

‘Because of drinking I felt miserable, I didn’t look like myself, I didn’t feel like myself,’ Jaclyn admitted.

‘I’ve never given my brain and my body an actual break,’ she added about her ‘alcohol relationship.’

She thought the inflammation was gone when she cut back on drinking, but didn’t realize she’d have to cut it out entirely instead of just not ‘drinking like a fish.’

‘It’s been 13 weeks since I stopped drinking and I feel like I have not had a drink in two years,’ the beauty influencer raved

Jaclyn showed off photos during her lengthy YouTube video, where she talked about why she gave up drinking for months, saying, ‘I was holding so much bloat and so much inflammation’

After going to New York to celebrate her 33rd birthday on July 20, and after gaining 12 pounds, Jaclyn realized it was time to stop drinking.

Behind the beauty guru’s lipstick scandal

  • In 2019, Jaclyn Hill replaced and refunded customers after her lipstick line was accused of being ‘contaminated’ and ‘moldy’
  • Customers claimed to have found hair fibers in the lipsticks and showed them off on social media
  • Other complaints about the $18 lipsticks included claims they were were melted, bumpy, and broken
  • Jaclyn blamed the ‘hairs’ on the cotton gloves lab workers used when inspecting the product

‘It’s been 13 weeks since I stopped drinking and I feel like I have not had a drink in two years,’ the beauty influencer raved, as she checked in with her followers about three months into her sobriety journey.

While she didn’t see any physical changes at first, she ended up taking lots of walks, although she constantly craved sugar.

‘This for me was a mental thing and not a fitness thing, and then I started seeing the changes in my body,’ Jaclyn explained.

‘My body composition just changed. I did change my diet and workout routine as well, and now I’ve lost 23 pounds and four inches off her waist.

‘I was holding so much bloat and so much inflammation,’ she said, showing off a before picture.

‘People were accusing me of getting cosmetic procedures done and fillers and collagen and Botox,’ Jaclyn continued.

Other women flocked to her comments to talk about how it helped them lose weight too.

One wrote, ‘During the pandemic I was drinking daily… I gained so much weight and one day I just decided to change up everything and I started eating better, working out, and completely stopped drinking alcohol.’

Now, she says everything is better and she sleeps like a baby, encouraging her followers to join a challenge to give up drinking this December and giving them a guide about how she stopped drinking.

Jaclyn has been open about her weight loss journey throughout the years, hitting back at trolls who fat shamed her

In a separate YouTube video called TOP 5 THINGS I DID TO QUIT ALCOHOL COMPLETELY! Jaclyn admitted, ‘I was drinking a lot at one point – a lot a lot, after my lipsticks happened.’

Jaclyn added that she was drinking on a weekly basis and had ‘terrible habits’ and ‘so much fear surrounding quitting drinking.’

‘It’s not even acceptable, it’s pushed,’ she said about how common it was to celebrate life events with alcohol.

‘Alcohol was the answer to everything in my life for quite some time.’

The beauty guru’s number-one piece of advice is that people have to be okay with putting themselves first and that it’s going to ‘suck’ at first, but if you want to feel and look your best, you have to cut the alcohol out.

Jaclyn ended up stepping back from some friendships during her sobriety, advising, ‘Yes, you love your friends, but if they are going to drink and they are going to get drunk in front of you and you’re not enjoying yourself, you don’t need to be there.’

Jaclyn’s tips include having a calendar to keep yourself accountable, which her therapist suggested.

‘I put my calendar next to my liquor,’ Jaclyn announced. Instead of making cocktails, which was a ‘trigger’ at first, she would walk over and see her calendar instead of the bar.

‘I wanted to feel the guilt. I wanted to feel the shame,’ Jaclyn told her followers.

Jaclyn would wait until the morning to put her star for the day before marking another day without drinking, so she wouldn’t be tempted to have a Tito’s at midnight.

Jaclyn also used Beam Dream to help her sleep instead of a night cap or mocktail, raving about the ‘natural sleep ingredients’ in the flavored supplement and saying it tastes ‘relaxing and yummy.’

‘The first time I drank this I cried,’ Jaclyn said, adding she was ‘so passionate’ about the sleep aid, because it changed her life.

Jaclyn also found a way to cope with boredom, by finding organization projects to do around the house to keep her busy, like painting her bathroom.

‘It is crazy how much drinking takes up your time,’ she announced.

Jaclyn has also taken up coloring books, which she keeps in her bedroom and does at night to bring her ‘creativity alive.’

Jaclyn has been open about her weight loss journey throughout the years, hitting back at trolls who fat shamed her. Back in 2019, the beauty guru showed off her stretch marks to viewers in a candid video where she implored people to stop commenting about her weight gain.

‘I’ve been absent from socials because I’ve been in such a bad place,’ Jaclyn said at the time.

She went on to share how some of her dedicated subscribers expressed how they missed the ‘old Jaclyn.’

‘There is no old Jaclyn and there is no new Jaclyn. This is who I am. I was born, and I am going to grow, and I am going to evolve for the rest of my life until I die,’ she said at the time.

‘I know you guys want that thin girl who’s super peppy and loved life and was silly and joking all the time and did tutorials because she loved it so much. But you guys, I am seriously that same girl inside.’

In the months leading up to her 2019 video, more and more commenters had bombarded Jaclyn with messages saying she wasn’t the same and that she was gaining weight.

This inspired Jaclyn to candidly address all of the comments on YouTube to potentially stop some of the hate.

‘The constant comments about my weight, it doesn’t stop,’ she continued in her 26-minute long video.

‘Why is it all a sudden OK to call someone fat? Like where did this come from? I can’t gain a few pounds without the internet calling me fat. You think I look bad? Imagine how I feel with everybody saying these things to me.’
