Prince William has shared a cheeky message with Greg James on Instagram – insisting he loves the Radio 1 DJ ‘really’, despite previously joking that he is ‘average’.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 41, were recently interviewed by Jordan North and Vick Hope for BBC Radio 1’s Going Home show.
During the chat, the heir to the throne said he’s listened to the station for many years, and seen presenters come and go.
He added: ‘So I can definitely say with great purpose that Greg James is an average DJ and Jordan and Vick are the future.’
In a clip shared on his Instagram account, Greg reacted to William’s put down, jokingly acting as if he were baffled.
The royal, accompanied by his wife the Princess of Wales, appear to enjoy joking with the Radio One DJ host
He said: ‘Yeah, I don’t really know how to…They [the Waleses] don’t really ever have a go at anyone.’
He continued: ‘My nan is going to be cross.
‘When I listened to it, my initial reaction was “alright, calm down Baldy!”, but you can’t say that in retaliation.
‘So I would never say that on the radio.’
Greg then proceeded to read out a text, which he described as ‘one of his favourites’ among those that have been sent to the station.
The text, from an Ash in Bristol said the only thing for Greg to do is to ‘egg’ the royal’s house in ‘retaliation’.
‘I’d b***** love to egg his house,’ Greg joked.
‘I reckon I could charm the guards. [I could tell them about how] I was here last year with the teen heroes.’

Greg joked about where to buy eggs in his caption on Instagram, while William left a message saying he ‘loves’ the presenter ‘really’
He joked that if they asked what he had in his bag, he would say: ‘Nothing. Definitely not 48 eggs.’
Posting the video on Instagram, Greg captioned it: ‘Where’s good to bulk buy eggs?’
The Wales took to the comments section of the video to leave a message for the beleaguered presenter.
It said: ‘We love you really Greg! W.’
The post was signed off simply with the letter ‘W’, showing that William had written the message.
