Non-league club Billericay Town’s former millionaire owner Glenn Tamplin is on the run from police.

Tamplin, 57, who made his fortune in the steel industry, failed to comply with a community order between October 19 and November 4 last year, before failing to show up to St Albans Magistrates Court earlier this year.

He then had a second arrest warrant issued in October for possession of cocaine back in May.

Hertfordshire Police have confirmed they are looking for Tamplin following the arrest warrants being issued.

A spokesperson for the police force confirmed: ‘A warrant was issued by St Albans Magistrates’ Court on 12 July 2023 for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order between 19 October 2022 and 4 November 2022.

‘A warrant was also issued by St Albans Magistrates’ Court on 3 October 2023 for possession of a controlled Class A drug (cocaine) on 9 May 2023.’

Tamplin took over as Billericay’s owner in December 2016, and proceeded to entice former Premier League stars Jamie O’Hara and Jermaine Pennant to the club with his £40m fortune after being named the second most powerful person in the Essex Power 100.

Tamplin caused a stir in 2018 when he told O’Hara’s then-fiancée Elizabeth-Jayne Tierney: ‘You can do so much better than him’, after visiting her to drop off the footballer’s wages while he was away with friends in Ibiza.

He later sent a separate WhatsApp message that read: ‘Let me know if I can show you what you’re missing.’

Tierney was shocked by Tamplin’s behaviour with friends claiming she made it clear to him that he had acted inappropriately. O’Hara and Tierney split in 2022.

Tamplin famously brought Jamie O’Hara to Billericay, and he went on to be the club’s player-manager

Former Premier League star Jermaine Pennant also had a brief stint at Billericay

O’Hara, a League Cup winner with Tottenham in 2008, went on to be the team’s player-manager between 2019 and 2020.

Pennant, who played in the 2007 Champions League final for Liverpool, had a much shorter stay at Billericay, lasting just a matter of months before leaving in 2017.

Tamplin stepped away from Billericay in 2019 and took over fellow non-league outfit Romford.

He made an instant impact as he bought 15 players, sacked the manager and placed himself in charge, all on day one.

But just 16 months later he quit football and left his £10m mansion behind to move abroad.

In November 2021, after returning to the UK, Tamplin was attacked in his home, and rumours spread online that he had died.

His son Archie took to Twitter to deny the rumours and Tamplin was found alive and well, while a man was arrested for actual bodily harm following the incident.

Less than six months later, Tamplin, who counts The Only Way is Essex stars Mark Wright and Jake Hall among his friends, was ordered to remove 15,000 tons of waste from his Essex mansion.

Aerial shots showed piles of waste and soil on his property, and Essex County Council gave him seven months to clear up the mess.
