Fans are only just realising Palhinha's real name as Fulham reveal it in Man of the Match post | The Sun

FANS are only just realising what Joao Palhinha's full name is after he was named man of the match for his performance against Arsenal.

The Portuguese midfielder scored a dramatic late goal to earn Fulham a point away at the Gunners.

Andreas Pereira had put the Cottagers in the lead but second-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.

To make matters worse for the visitors Calvin Bassey saw red for a second yellow card in the 83rd minute which appeared to give Arsenal the win.

That was until Palhinha, 28, scored from a corner in the 87th minute to salvage a point for the ten men of Fulham.

And after the game, the former Sporting Lisbon star was awarded the man of the match award by Fulham for his efforts.

A second joked: "Have to take a mortgage out to get that name on the back of your top."

A third commented: "He is that good I think he deserves the respect of all commentators calling him by his full name from now on."

A fourth wrote: "Surprised they didn’t run out of characters with his full name."

Palhinha has been Fulham's star player since his arrival from Sporting last summer.

The club rejected a £40million offer from West Ham for him earlier in the window as the Hammers tried to sign him as a Declan Rice replacement.

The Cottagers value Palhinha at a whopping £90m despite only splashing £20m on him last summer.
