Juventus line up Arsenal star as transfer replacement for Paul Pogba if midfielder is banned | The Sun

JUVENTUS are reportedly lining up a swoop for an Arsenal ace as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba.

The French ex-Manchester United star has been provisionally suspended by anti-doping officials after they found traces of testosterone in his system.

The banned substance was supposedly discovered after Juventus' first game of the season against Udinese.

Pogba, 30, was given three days to respond to the test but released a statement through his agent Rafaela Pimenta on the situation.

She said: “We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we can't say anything.

“The certain thing is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules.”

Should he be found guilty of breaking the rules, Pogba could allegedly face a ban for up to four years.

Now reports in Italy are claiming that the club are looking at options to replace the midfielder and claim that his £130,000-a-week contract, which runs until 2026, could be terminated if he is found guilty.

And La Repubblica’s Turin edition says that Arsenal’s Thomas Partey is a name on their shortlist.

They were linked with a swoop for the Ghana international during the summer and the publication does add that striking a deal with the Gunners could prove to be problematic.

Partey, despite his injury issues, has proven to be a key man for Arsenal ever since his £45m arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2020.

His versatility has also proven vital, especially so far this term, as he helped fill in as a hybrid right-back in Arteta’s new-look side.

Partey is currently nursing a hamstring injury that led to him to pull out of the Ghana squad during the current international break.
