Kalvin Phillips ‘edges closer to Man City transfer exit as Serie A giants meet agent’ with Euro 2024 hopes on the line | The Sun

JUVENTUS are confident of landing England ace Kalvin Phillips in January.

The Manchester City midfielder, 27, knows he needs to be playing regularly if he is to start at Euro 2024.

And that is unlikely to happen for him at the Etihad after another frustrating season under boss Pep Guardiola.

City told Phillips in the summer they would be willing to let him go on loan but the £45million former Leeds star chose to stay.

However, with Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes now ahead of him in the pecking order, he knows his chance is unlikely to come at City.

Juve believe they can lure him but will have Bayern Munich and a host of English clubs as rivals.

Phillips was named in Gareth Southgate's latest England squad, meaning he has now earned more call-ups (2) than he has had starts (1) for his club this season.

He has played just 215 minutes of football across eight games for Man City this season.

Southgate has warned Phillips' future in the England team will depend on him earning regular minutes.

He said: "For any player that's not playing football, it's about their careers. England is a consequence of your club, but you also want fulfilment. If you're in training every day then you want to play.

The Three Lions have Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta on Friday, November 17 and North Macedonia on Monday, November 20.

In October, SunSport revealed how Phillips was prepared to waive a £17.5m pay-off in order to push through a January transfer to secure minutes ahead of the Euros.

Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham have all previously been linked with Phillips.

It was also reported City offered Phillips to Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants were not keen on the £43m price tag on the deal.
