Leicester fans praise their groundsmen's 'dirty tactics' after spotting what they did during warm-up for Sunderland game | The Sun

LEICESTER fans praised their groundsmen’s “dirty tactics.”

That’s after spotting them pronging the turf in front of Sunderland’s goal before yesterday’s Championship clash.

Leicester have made a stunning start to life in England’s second tier following last season’s relegation.

The Foxes have won 12 of their 13 games under Enzo Maresca, scoring the most goals and conceding the least in the process.

Tuesday night saw Leicester welcome Sunderland to the King Power Stadium.

The hosts picked up a 1-0 win thanks to James Justin’s 12th minute strike.

But some fans reckon their groundsmen were to thank for the victory.

Footage captured before kick-off showed two of Leicester’s pitch staff walking into the penalty area being used by Sunderland’s goalies for a warm-up.

Armed with prongs, the pair began to prod the turf straight in front of Sunderland’s net.

This saw the visiting keepers and coaches protest wildly, as they were unable to continue their warm-up.

But Leicester’s groundsmen brushed their protests aside calmly.

And as one remonstrated with the Sunderland stars, the other continued digging his prongs into the soil.

The visiting players and staff eventually gave up, allowing both of Leicester’s pitch members to prod away to their heart’s content.

Foxes fans were certainly loving the action, with one saying: “Love the dirty tactics from the groundsmen tonight.”

Another declared: “Everyone hates us, I love it.”

One noted: “Getting in the way so the keepers can’t train.”
