LIVERPOOL fans have been blown away by the humbleness of Paul Scholes when he was asked who was the better player out of him and Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard, Scholes and Frank Lampard have long been considered the best three midfielders of their generation for England and debates as to who was the best have not abated since their retirements.
And Paul Scholes was asked directly by Harry Pinero on old United team-mate Rio Ferdinand's Five channel who was the better player out of him and Gerrard.
Scholes responded: "I can't answer that…" before deciding, "Gerrard."
To which Manchester United fan Pinero replied: "Get out!"
Scholes went on to explain his reasoning by saying: "We're different, we're very different… He's an athlete."

He added "I think he was more of a match-winner as well weren't he? But he was playing in a team where he probably had to be.
"I was more part of a team. He was more individual I think."
Pinero then asks: "Do you reckon he could do what you did at United? And do you reckon you could do what he did at Liverpool?"
Scholes responded: "Very different again. I wouldn't have been able to do what he did at Liverpool. Whether he could have done what I did at United, I don't know. I don't see why not?

"But I couldn't have done what he did at Liverpool, no."
Fans on Twitter were taken aback by Scholes' humbleness with the comparison.
Liverpool fans in particular were impressed, with one saying: "This man hates Liverpool and understandably. But this is humble beyond anything. Absolute respect Paul Scholes. Top man and top player."
Another wrote: "The man himself settled this debate! Scholes is humble like that. Love to see it."
A third replied: "Greatness recognise greatness."
While a fourth wrote: "He's such a class act."
The two players have taken different routes in the game since retirement.
Scholes had a brief spell in charge of Oldham Athletic in February 2019 but resigned after winning once in seven games.
He has since focused on his role as co-owner of Salford City.
