Richards leaves Lineker and Shearer stunned with story about England training which saw Gerrard tell him to 'f*** off' | The Sun

MICAH RICHARDS left Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer amazed with a story about the first time he met Steven Gerrard.

The former defender got into a tricky situation as he reported for England duty for the first time.

Richards, who was playing for Manchester City at the time, was called up to the Three Lions by Steve McClaren in 2006.

But upon turning up for training he realised he had packed the wrong boots, so turned to Gerrard for a helping hand.

Richards shared the story on The Rest is Football podcast, saying: "I always took my own boots.

"So I had two pairs – a mould and a stud. I look in my bag and as I'm going down I realise it's four left feet.

"I said 'Stevie, you can't borrow us a pair of boots can you?', luckily we were a similar size.

"He gives me his boots, we go train – it's the best training session I've ever had.

"So I said to Steven Gerrard afterwards 'can I have the boots?' – he said 'f*** off!'."
