Wayne Mardle raging at darts fan as Sky pundit blasts anyone can be offended

Wayne Mardle branded a darts fan a "twonk" after being criticised for complimenting teen sensation Luke Littler.

The former World Championship semi-finalist lavished 16-year-old Littler with praise following his stunning 3-0 win over Christian Kist at Ally Pally on Wednesday. In an impassioned post on X after the match, Mardle said he'd just "witnessed something extraordinary", adding that Littler was one of the most "naturally gifted" players he'd ever seen.

A vexatious fan hit back, claiming it was "disrespectful" to suggest Littler's talents were simply God-given rather than as a result of years worth of graft. Mardle, however, was having none of it.

"Wow," the 50-year-old replied. "Anyone can be offended at anything can’t they. Get a grip. His throw is natural and not contrived or robotic. It’s natural. Of course he’s practiced a lot, they all have."

Later he posted: "I’m absolutely raging at that twonk. I need to go for a walk. Laters you lot."

Mardle's followers were in agreement, with one writing: "Very true Wayne. Didn't see anything wrong with your original post. Any shocks in today's matches do you think? Another added: "Gave a compliment to an incredible talent, and somehow, folk think you're being disrespectful. Wow."

Littler has been taking the darting world by storm over the past few months and his comprehensive victory over Kist cemented the increasingly-widely-held belief that the Cheshire-born youngster is destined for the very top.
