Law and Order has changed a lot over the years, but what happened to Alexandra Borgia?
The legal drama was renewed for a 23rd outing on NBC earlier this year, much to fans’ excitement, after being rebooted last year.
Sadly, there will be quite a wait until the new episodes begin airing due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes which have delayed shows across America.
While the show was expected to return this autumn, instead, viewers may be able to start watching the next series from early 2024.
But as fans wait eagerly for Law and Order’s return, many have turned their attention to old characters and their departures, including that of actress Annie Parisse as Alexandra Borgia.

Why did Annie Parisse leave Law and Order as Alexandra Borgia?
Law and Order fans will remember Serena Southerlyn (played by Elisabeth Röhm) was fired by District Attorney Burch (Walton Goggins) in season 16 for being too emotional.
He needed a replacement and so Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Borgia (Annie Parisse) stepped into her shoes.
She remained in the show for just 34 episodes though as Alexandra had a tragic ending that no one was expecting.
In season 16’s finale, Invaders, she was kidnapped while investigating a number of murders that involved impersonating federal officers.

It is then halfway through the episode that Alexandra’s body is discovered, bound, beaten and gagged in the boot of a car.
Sometimes actors are written out of the show for creative reasons but this time around, it was actually Parisse who asked to leave.
She explained to Newsday: “I like the adventure of going from job to job to job.
“Not knowing what’s next. That’s just my crazy personality.”
She did add though that these scenes were a “total blast” to film.
Parisse said: “People always tell me, ‘That was terrible what they did to you’.
“I try to comfort them by telling them I had a really good time doing it.”
