BBC EastEnders confirms villain’s return after photo ‘leak’ sparked frenzy

The fallout from Dean Wicks ‘Not Guilty’ verdict

It looks as though there’s drama ahead for Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright) as Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) is returning to EastEnders.

During his time in the BBC soap, viewers watched in horror as Dean raped Linda in the Queen Vic, attempted to rape Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and tried to drown his mum Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).

The villainous character was last seen in the square back in 2016 before leaving after he was paid off by his dad Buster Briggs (Karl Howman) to never come back.

However, it looks as though Dean’s decided to not listen to his dad as he’s planning a return to Walford and this time he intends to stick around.

The BBC has confirmed Dean will be revealed as the Beales’ new business partner and the reason for his comeback surrounds his daughter Jade Green (Amaya Edward).

Dean wants to be close to the local hospital where Jade, who has cystic fibrosis, is receiving treatment and awaiting a life-saving lung transplant.

Now Linda has to contend with him continuing to protest his innocence to anybody who will listen.

It looks as if his comeback is set to cause a stir as the BBC stated Dean’s return will create drama for all those involved.

However, Matt’s return was accidentally leaked earlier this month when a cast member shared a behind-the-scenes, now deleted, video on social media with the actor being seen in the background, according to reports.

Speaking about reprising his role, soap star Matt Di Angelo commented on how it feels to be back.

He commented: “It feels great to be back. I started at EastEnders almost 18 years ago, which seems like a lifetime ago now.

“I haven’t been back for seven years, so I was thrilled to be asked again for the third time as I love the people and the show.”

Hinting at what’s in store for Dean, the actor confessed his character didn’t want to come back but because of Jade, has been forced to.

However, it looks as though audiences have been speculating about his return since the flashforward Christmas episode earlier this year.

When asked if his character is involved in the festive special, Matt remained tight-lipped at suspicions that he’s the dead body on the floor.

He teased: “We know that Linda is involved in the Christmas storyline, and we also know that most people in the Square would like to see the back of Dean.

“But everyone is going to have to wait to find out if Dean’s the body on The Vic floor because I’m not giving away any clues!
