Below Deck Med fans mock Luka for not knowing meaning behind his own tattoo

Below Deck Mediterranean season eight teased by Bravo

Below Deck Mediterranean has added one of its Down Under stars to the roster for Season 8 as Bravo hunk Luka Brunton appeared on the first charter of the season.

During the second episode, the new bosun who replaced Ruan Irving tried to get closer to Natalya Scudder while the crew were out for drinks.

The reality show’s cameras picked up one particularly candid moment, that almost seemed to be the spark of something else at first.

While chatting, Natalya pointed out a large tattoo on the yachties’ thigh, questioning if it was Otto from the Nickelodeon cartoon Rocket Power.

Luka corrected her, claiming the character was actually from the cartoon Rugrats according to the show’s subtitles but fans online have blasted the 25-year-old for confusing the two shows, claiming Natalya was actually right.

On the Below Deck Subreddit, viewers lashed out at the “unforgivable” mistake, with some joking that Luka’s other tattoos could offer more insights.

A viewer wrote: “Coming from the guy with a butterfly tattoo on his chest…I don’t think he puts a lot of thought into his tattoos.”

Another slammed: “So that makes 2 ugly and weird choices for tattoos for Luka,” with a few more simply commenting on the “awesomely bad” choice.

One claimed that it was just the subtitles that were incorrect, saying they heard him jokingly say: “Thug life baby,” rather than “Rugrats” and pointed out that the shirtless cartoon character seems to have the phrase tattooed across his own stomach.

The debate got so heated it started causing rifts among viewers with one Redditor revealing they fully believed it was the Rocket Power character while their partner was adamant it was a version of Chucky from Rugrats.

Luka has been branching across the Below Deck franchise, having just wrapped up season two of Below Deck Down Under as the lead deckhand.

The New Zealand native has made a great impression on Captain Sandy as the show’s top boss offered him a permanent promotion at the start of Below Deck Mediterranean season eight.

Luka quickly accepted the role while talking to the Captain, he later revealed in a private confessional that he was a lot more on-the-fence about the decision than he appeared as the 25-year-old worried about taking on so much responsibility.
