Big Brother host AJ Odudu had one big question before agreeing to accept job

Big Brother host AJ Odudu says she would have turned down the job down if the house did not reflect the real world.

The former Strictly star, 35, only signed up to present the revamped series after bosses confirmed it would feature a diverse cast. AJ, who will front Sunday’s comeback alongside close pal Will Best, 38, said: “The first question I asked was will the house see a full representation of all sorts of diverse people.

“I wanted to confirm that the channel, the production company were well aware that the world has changed and that it needed to be represented in the house and on our screens. I wanted to make sure that everyone feels represented and celebrated in the comeback of this show and that no one would be discriminated against. The beauty of Big Brother is anyone can apply. When they said ‘Yes, don’t worry that will all be covered’ I thought, bring it on.”

Big Brother will tonight return to UK TV screens for the first time in five-years. AJ, who previously presented spin-off Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, said: “All of the pressure is on us. Live telly is scary and nerve-wracking but that’s what we are suckers for so bring it on.”

The Blackburn lass has the backing of former host Davina McCall, 55. She added: “Davina got in touch to say she we’d smash it. Emma Willis was actually my biggest cheerleader in the run up to getting the job when know one knew what was going on.

“The show has had such iconic hosts in the past the comparisons have already started and the show isn’t even on air yet. But we aren’t trying to be like Davina, we are just going to be ourselves and do the best job we can.” Big Brother returns on Sunday October 8 on ITV1 and ITVX.
