Sunday Brunch: Bob Mortimer says he’s still falling over
Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse have built a strong fanbase through their popular BBC series which sees them open up about a number of topics.
From their health to how they’re feeling, Bob and Paul push each other to open up on what’s going on in their lives.
Speaking ahead of the new series of Gone Fishing on Sunday Brunch, Bob admitted fans will see him fall over “a lot”.
Host Tim Lovejoy asked: “How’s Paul [Whitehouse] by the way? Is he nice? Is he well?”
“He’s very well, a bit grumpy with me on the show but yeah he’s very well,” Bob replied.

Simon Rimmer then asked: “Are you still falling over by the way?”
“More these days,” Bob explained. “I’ve got a very weak knee at the moment.
“I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s withered but it’s getting there and yeah, a lot of falling.”
It comes after Bob admitted “I’m never very well” as he gave an update on his health on The One Show.

Roman Kemp remarked the series began with the pair “getting close to nature” for its health benefits.
“Yeah, I wasn’t very well,” Bob replied. “I am never very well. It’s been a long time since I’ve been very well.”
Paul joked: “It is a long time, If I went to him ‘Bob, how are you?…. Excellent’…no.”
It was Paul who invited Bob to go fishing after a heart operation and he admitted: “He was very vulnerable at the time and I thought I could manipulate this.”
The synopsis for the first episode reads: “Paul and Bob travel with their trusty terrier Ted to Wales to fish the Rivers Irfon and Wye in search of chub.
“The Wye is one of our angling pair’s favourite rivers, but they have yet to visit its lesser-known neighbour, the Irfon.
“The countryside which surrounds them is largely unspoilt, with the source of the Irfon found in a region often called the ‘Desert of Wales’ due to the lack of roads and towns surrounding it.
“This is ideal Gone Fishing territory, so Paul and Bob excitedly set off to find a large chub.”
Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing airs Sunday on BBC Two at 9pm.
