Malcolm quit Corrie in 2020 due to health problems. Since then he has kept a low profile and only been seen in public a handful of times. But he agreed to be part of the TV special because he is so fond of Barbara, who plays Rita Tanner.

It comes after fans were stunned to hear that Barbara is 90 as ITV revealed that it will pay tribute to the Rita Tanner actress with a special TV tribute. The actress made her debut as Rita Tanner on the cobbles back in 1964 and has amassed an army of fans over the years. And now, to mark a milestone birthday, she is going to be celebrated in a special programme.

Fans were thrilled to hear that Barbara Knox At 90 – which will see the star join Bradley Walsh as she looks back on the highlights from her career in TV and theatre – would air this month. But many were just distracted by the fact she is 90.
