Corrie star seen for first time in three years after mysterious soap disappearance

Coronation Street's medical busy body Moira, played by Louiza Patikas, up and left the cobbles three years ago and hasn't been seen on-screen since, but the star was recently spotted full of smiles on social media.

The actress – who is also known for her role on BBC Radio 4 drama The Archers since 2008, looked happy and posed alongside voice artist and co-star Susie Riddell as they left the BBC studios in London this week.

Susie captioned the pic and said: "What Larks! Louiza Patikas & I had a lovely time representing The Archers and Lark Rise To Ambridge on BBC Radio 4 Front Row last night."

Louiza joined the hit soap in Weatherfield in 2017 as office manager at Weatherfield Medical Centre but immediately clashed with feisty stalwart Liz McDonald, played by Beverley Callard, when she lands the receptionist role.

After 88 episodes though, Moira was no more after being sacked for using Norris Cole's blood sample to give Colin for a DNA test in order to find out if he was Colin's long last father.

Moira and Colin decided it was best to up sticks and leave the cobbles altogether and said their goodbyes to friends including Roy and Liz.

Before joining Corrie, producer Kate Oates said: "I'm so excited to welcome Louiza to Corrie.

"Louiza is no stranger to long-running drama; but as Moira, viewers will get to see another side to her – and enjoy her amazing talent for comedy."

Meanwhile, Louiza expressed her excitement at joining the long-standing soap, and said: "I'm cock-a-hoop to be working on Coronation Street.

"It's a fantastic show which I've always loved for its superb writing and iconic characters."

The actress is no stranger to the world of drama having starred in the radio drama The Archers for over 15 years, and gained praise and recognition in 2016 for her character's incredible involvement in a domestic abuse and coercive control storyline.

Fans will also remember her from a brief stint on ITV's Grantchester where other soap stars like Kacey Aimsworth, who played Little Mo in Eastenders, and Paula Wilcox, who played Elaine Jones in Corrie also starred.

Kacey was recently thrilled to be mentioned on an episode of Eastenders after leaving 17 years ago. She's the fictional mum of Bobby Brazier's character Freddie Slater and was 'on the phone' to him in a recent episode this summer.

Kacey took to Twitter to share her excitement at the time. She hilariously said: "Apparently I’ve been on the blower…"

Meanwhile, Louiza has also enjoyed a successful career as a voice artist in lots of video games including Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and James Bond classic Goldeneye.
