Gogglebox chaos after Channel 4 bosses pull show from prime slot just hours away

Channel 4 bosses have pushed Gogglebox back from its usual time slot in a major shake-up to the schedule.

The hit programme typically airs every Friday at 9pm. The show depicts everyday people up and down the country reacting to the week's television to give the audience their honest thoughts on what they have been watching.

But this Friday (October 13), Gogglebox fans will be frustrated to learn that the hit show is set to be pushed back due to England's men's football team taking to the pitch. The Three Lions squad are due to take on Australia in a friendly match ahead of their campaign to qualify for the Euro 2024 tournament.

Coverage of the match begins at 7pm on Channel 4, and will last for three hours. As a result, fan favourite show Gogglebox has been forced to be pushed out of its regular slot on the telly to make way for the match.

In addition to Gogglebox, which will now air at 10pm, Channel 4's news programme has also been made to reschedule. Typically broadcast at 7pm, the show will then take to the airwaves one hour earlier at 6pm.

But it is not just Gogglebox that is having to make accommodations for the football. It was announced earlier this week that another Channel 4 favourite The Great British Bake Off will be affected by England's squad taking to the pitch.

The baking show which usually airs every Tuesday at 8pm, is set to be bashed out of the schedule as England go up against Italy in a qualifying match for Euro 2024. England is currently in fighting form, being on top of its qualifying group, together with the Italians.

England had previously beaten the Italians as part of the first leg of qualifications, with a second victory almost guaranteeing the squad a place in the next round. As a result of that clash, Bake Off is instead set to be aired on Wednesday (October 18) at 8pm.

The arm chair critics will offer their views on shows such as Big Brother and Coronation Street during the upcoming episode of the award-winning programme, which first aired back in 2013.
