Gorka Marquez ignored by Nikita in awkward moment as Strictly fans predict exit

Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez faced an embarrassing blunder during Saturday's live show as he made his entrance with Nikita Kanda.

As the pair made their way down the steps towards the dance floor, poor Gorka was left hanging as he held his hand out for a high five, which Nikita didn't respond to.

One eagle-eyed fan noticed the awkward moment, as they said: "Gorka just got left hanging," adding a hand emoji and a laughing face.

The pair didn't have the most successful night as they opened with a a waltz to Whitney Houston's Run to You, which landed them second to bottom on the leaderboard.

They scored just 18 out of 40, as judge Craig Revel-Horwood gave them just a three, leading fans to speculate they may not be on the show for long.

One took to social media to post: "Nikita & Gorka & Eddie & Karen May Be The Dance Off Next Week On Strictly Come Dancing Unless They Get Huge Scores."

Another added: "She won’t be in the competition for long which is unfortunate for #Gorka."

A third feared that Gorka may leave the series if he were not successful, penning: "Anyone else have a feeling that Gorka will call it a day after this series if he’s out early doors with Nikita?

"I was quite surprised he came back this year after he seemed so devastated not to win in 2022, but I’ll be really gutted if he does leave as I see him as one of the best pro dancers and choreo."

A second fan chipped in: “He looked so mad when he didn't win and I thought he would just throw in the towel and spend time with his family.”

A third agreed: “I feel that too. I commented earlier that he already looks p****d off and I don't feel he thinks this year's partnership will be his finest hour."

Nikita previously revealed: "I'm dedicating this performance to my mum.

"She's the single woman in my life, she brought me and my sister up on her own… So this one is going out to all the single parents out there that has done everything for their kids. I feel like this is the perfect tribute to my mum."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Sunday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
