Oasis star Noel Gallagher banned from driving for 6 months today – despite never learning to drive | The Sun

NOEL Gallagher has been banned from the road for six months – despite never learning how to drive.

The Oasis star, 56, twice failed to hand over information relating to the driver of his £80,000 black Range Rover Autobiography.

Gallagher was previously prosecuted when the chauffeur-driven motor was caught speeding in West London last October.

The Range Rover was clocked by a speed camera doing 41mph on a 30mph stretch of the A40 near Edgware Road station.

He was handed a £742 fine and six penalty points despite not owning a driving licence.

But his driver Alan Neeson then wrote to Willesden Magistrates' Court, explaining he had been at the wheel at the time.

Gallagher today admitted two counts of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver.

The High Flying Birds frontman made the plea in his absence at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court.

He was banned from driving for six months after 12 further penalty points were added to the existing six.

Gallagher was also handed a £1,340 for the offences, costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £536.

JPs heard a letter was sent to Gallagher's home on January 5 asking for the driver's identity within 28 days after the Range Rover was caught speeding.

A second letter was sent on February 9 in relation to the same vehicle that also was not responded to.

In a letter written to court, he said: "I did not personally receive the notice or the reminder and neither were brought to my attention by my staff.

"I have a team who assist me with my business and personal matters, which includes correspondence to my home address.

"I acknowledge my responsibility to safeguard against important correspondence not being replied to.

"Once my management team notified me of receipt of this letter, I identified my willingness to comply.

"I am content with the court to proceed in my absence. Please note, I am currently working abroad."

Gallagher previously revealed he never learnt to drive after he was mobbed by fans during a lesson.
