PETER Andre has revealed he has struggled to celebrate his birthday with a party since the death of his brother.

Andrew Andre tragically died of kidney cancer in December after a ten month battle – and the loss left Pete heartbroken.

Two months later he tried to celebrate his 40^th birthday, but says he broke down and has been unable to have a party since.

Pete explained to The Times:  “When I lost my brother, I was in a very, very dark place.

“Therapists said, “You’re going through grief. It’s not the same as anxiety and depression, though you might be feeling the same symptoms.”

“At my surprise 40th birthday two months later, I kept disappearing and breaking down the whole night because I’d lost my brother. I don’t think I’ve had a birthday party since.”

Peter celebrated his 50^th this year and decided to spend the day on a luxury holiday in Dubai with his family.

Last year, the singer reflected on the death of his brother a decade on.

He told New! Magazine: “It's almost mind-blowing knowing it's been a whole decade. Of course we will be with him on this sad anniversary.

“It will always be a difficult time and it doesn't get any easier.

“Milestones like this are a time to reflect and it's a very emotional time for us as a family. It does make Christmas a bittersweet time.”

Speaking previously about the loss, he said on This Morning: "We are so close that the pain is as great whoever it is and it happened to be our eldest brother, who was quite young, and it tore us apart.

“We have not to this day – three, four years later sat down as a family and talked about it.

"We just sort of move it away because it literally is still so raw."
