Strictly: Nigel and Katya dance the Foxtrot to Etta James
Professional dancer Brendan Cole believes Strictly Come Dancing bosses need to “revamp” the BBC series to keep it relevant.
The 47-year-old has created more than 200 routines for the programme and has been a professional partner for a range of celebrity contestants over the years before leaving the show.
He appeared on 15 seasons of Strictly Come Dancing and left in 2018 after announcing his contract had not been renewed.
Speaking on behalf of Sky Bingo, Brendan said: “I’m surprised they haven’t created an all-stars version yet because they should, although I don’t know how many celebrities would actually want to put themselves up for it.
“Let’s take last year’s winner for example Hamza [Yassin], he won because he was popular and did quite well, but if you put him up against 14 of the best dancers that have been on the show, he’d likely be voted out very quickly.

“Therefore I’m not sure how many people would put themselves on the line for that – unless the pay packet was too irresistible.
“Having said that, everyone loves Strictly, most people who do well and get through to the final have the most incredible time so maybe they would be keen to do it again as you do feel like you are part of a family.”
Wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin lifted the prestigious Glitterball Trophy with his partner Jowita Przystał last Christmas.

Jowita returned to the ballroom dance floor this year, but her celebrity partner Jody Cundy was eliminated during week four.
Brendan continued: “What they should do is have no winners taking part and only have people that came second as it would give people a bit of an incentive to try again and win.
“They need to do something to revamp the show. They’re 21 series in and using the same format.”

When asked about the possibility of returning to the show, the star said: “Would I return to try and claim the Glitter Ball?
“I think the Strictly ship has sailed for me now. Although saying that, my philosophy is never say never.”
Could Brendan get involved with an all-stars version of the hit show? I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! launched its very own all-stars series last year after being on ITV screens since 2002 so maybe Strictly will do the same?
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
