When BBC drama Eldorado hit our screens back in 1992, show bosses had hoped it could replicate the success of EastEnders while bringing a little more sunshine into the lives of avid soap viewers.
The iconic show, which was set in the fictional town of Los Barcos on the Costa Eldorado in Spain, focused on the lives of a group of wealthy British expatriates, and introduced viewers at home to a variety of stars including Eldorado hunk Marcus Tandy.
Yet despite holding some promise as a concept, the show never quite took off with viewers in the way the BBC has hoped and was axed from our screens after just one year.
Although the show may have come to an end, some stars did leave a lasting impression on fans, with many wondering what had happened to some of the actors and actresses that had brought the show to life.
One star in particular who continues to attract fan curiosity is Pilar Montero actress, Sandra Sandri.
Sandra was aged just 20 years old when she took on the role of playing Marcus’ girlfriend, and was just one of a handful of cast members who did originally hail from Spain.
Born in Barcelona in 1973, Sandra first shot to fame in the 1990 film Boom Boom before being cast in Eldorado.
Although she proved popular with fans on the show, she only appeared in a handful of television productions after the show had ended, with her last screen appearance taking place in 2004, when she appeared in Entre vivir y soñar.
Now, over 30 years on since she delighted fans in Eldorado, Sandra has left the showbiz world behind to start a family, with the star now married and a proud mother to one child, who was born in 2009.
A skilled actress, these days Sandra is more inclined to flex her sartorial chops, having embarked on a career in fashion, something which has long been her passion.
Designing everything from clothes and prints to her very own handbags, Sandra has clearly shown no signs of slowing down despite the surprising career change.
In 2017, it was revealed that the star had swapped the sunshine of her hometown to move to Lake Como, Italy with her family.
