Born on March 16, 1959, William Drayton Jr. is famously known as rapper and reality star Flavor Flav.
Hailing from Roosevelt, New York, Flavor Flav co-founded Public Enemy with his bandmate Chuck D.
While explaining his stage name's origin to the Daily Beast, Flav recalled: "When I was a kid I used to eat a whole bunch of different colored Lifesavers, and I used to drink different colored fruit-flavored sodas.
"So there was a guy named Kevin Starks, and my nickname was Ricco, so he used to call me, Ric the Flavor Freak.
"When MCing came about, I wanted to be out of the ordinary, but it had to mean something.
"So, I stuck with MC Flavor. And then Chuck D started calling me Flavor Flav."
He added: "I wanted to have a name that wasn’t common, that was out of the ordinary, unusual but yet, it had to mean something.
"There’s flavor in everything you do, flavor in everything you eat. Everything, it’s flavor."

In 1985, Public Enemy was formed after Flav met Chuck D at Adelphi University.
In 1987, the group released their debut album Yo! Bum Rush the Show.
As the group rose to prominence, Flav typically stood out for wearing a clock around his neck.

"Everything he does is, 'Flavor Flav this, Flavor Flav that, Flavor Flav this, Flavor Flav that.'
"So Kim said, 'Okay, well, for your birthday, you are going to have Flavor Flav.'
"She sent for me and that’s how I ended up there. I was just grateful to just be there, and not only that but also we were talking about the Flavor of Love 4.
