Britney Spears not in right space for TV interview as feeling traumatized

Britney Spears shares pole dancing video on Instagram

Her highly-anticipated memoir is set to be released in just over a month’s time, but Britney Spears isn’t going to go on TV to promote the book, no matter how much money is offered for an interview.

According to The Mirror, the Piece of Me singer, 41, isn’t “up to that kind of interaction with a professional interviewer or journalist,” because working on it forced her to relive a large amount of trauma, and her team is concerned she wouldn’t be able to handle recounting it on live television.

“Britney is just not in the right space to sit down for a full-scale interview to address many areas of her memoir,” a business associate of the singer told the publication.

“Firstly she doesn’t like to be face to face with a TV camera anymore dealing with questions,” they continued. “On top of that the questions will be about the revelations in her book.”

The source went on to detail that writing about those revelations took a toll on Spears.

“In theory, she signed off on the content being released next month. Doing the book with her ghostwriter was terrifically tough and left her feeling traumatized and needing therapy,” they said.

“Just how much she is able to go into aspects of those darker moments on camera could be problematic,” they added. “There is a real concern that she is not able to deal with more trauma on camera with a stranger.”

“The last thing anyone needs is Britney having a meltdown and suffering from this kind of interview.”

The concern comes despite Simon & Schuster, who are publishing the book, being eager to have her go on camera ahead of the release, and though large amounts of money have been offered for what would surely be a massive scoop, those around her, including lawyer Matthew Rosengart, feel it is in her best interest not to give an interview.

Moves to protect Spears from interviews have been ongoing ever since she was finally freed from the 13-year conservatorship run by her father in 2021.

At the time, even an offer from Oprah Winfrey was turned down.

Spears spoke out about the offers herself in a since-deleted video in 2022, saying that she didn’t “want any of it.”

“I get nothing out of sharing all of this,” she said at the time. “I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people [for] lots and lots of money, but it’s insane. I don’t want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview.”
