Channel 4 reveals fan-favourite show A Place In The Sun is getting its own spin-off series after 22 years on air
Channel 4 have revealed that long-standing show A Place in the Sun will be getting a spin-off series, after 22 years.
The show will reportedly see the property experts revisit the people that they’ve helped moved abroad.
The presenters, like Laura Hamilton and Danni Menzies will be able to see what impact buying their dream home had on their lives.
Amanda Lamb, who presented the show from 2001 to 2009, is also said to be returning to revisit Mike and Fiona from Derbyshire in 2007, who were seeking a holiday home in Lorraine, France.
The spin-off is said to be called A Place in the Sun What Happened Next? and explores the impact of moving to a warmer climate, from easing medical conditions to helping people find love.

Speaking to The Mirror, executive producer, Michelle Heele said: ‘It’s been wonderful to re-visit these house-hunters who are thriving in their new homes in the sun.
‘We are immensely proud to have helped change so many people’s lives. It’s a testament to all the hard work our production team and presenters have put in over the past 23 years. I can’t wait for viewers to see what happens next.’
Channel 4 daytime boss Jo Street added: ‘A Place in the Sun is such a beloved show, and we know the audience really cares what happens to the house-hunters once the cameras leave.
‘What a treat to catch up and see what happened when that offer was finally accepted.’
The publication adds that the spin-off has been ordered for two series, with the first airing next year.
The spin-off series was hinted last year, when presenter Laura suggested that viewers would enjoy the chance to see updates on previous buyers.
A Place In The Sun sometimes shares updates about previous stars who moved abroad on the show online.
Discussing the potential of this to become its own show, Laura told The Express in April 2022: ‘We haven’t [done much of that] at the moment.

‘We’re not making a TV show of it, but I think the beauty now is a lot of us keep in contact with the people that we filmed with and helped find homes.
‘And if we go back to similar destinations I will always sort of contact my house hunters if I’m in the area and say, “You know, I’m in the area, can I can I pop in the sea for a cup of tea or, you know, are you here?”
‘And so then we’ll catch up and it’s always lovely to go back. So we do it personally. But I think it would be it would be lovely if there was an opportunity for us to show the viewers at home.
‘Because I think it is something that people are quite interested in, what happens next. People are interested in seeing it and it’s nice for us. And I guess we then sometimes share those stories on our social media.’
She then teased: ‘But who knows? Who knows? Watch this space, it might be something that we get to see on TV.’
