Macaulay Culkin enjoyed a sweet reunion with his Home Alone mom Catherine O’Hara as she introduced him at his Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony on Friday.

Culkin, 43, portrayed the leading role of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone franchise, starting with the iconic film in 1990 and its sequel in 1992 – alongside O’Hara, 69, as his long-suffering mother Kate.

O’Hara tenderly touched Culkin’s face as she made a heartfelt speech about the actor – 33 years on from their first meeting.

She said: ‘Home Alone was, is and always will be a beloved global sensatio … the reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.

Branding Culkin’s performance ‘perfect’ she added; ‘I know you worked really hard, I know you did, but you made acting look like the most natural thing in the world to do.’

She said Culkin brought his ‘sweet and twisted, yet totally relatable sense of humor to every project he does’, saying: ‘It’s a sign of intelligence in a child and a key to survival at any age.

‘Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion. I’m so proud of you .’

Culkin embraced O’Hara and was seen wiping away tears before taking to the podium.

Culkin was joined at the ceremony by partner Brenda Song and their sons Dakota, two, who rocked an edgy mohawk and son Carson, who was born in April 2023.

O’Hara looked chic in an all-black look while Culkin wore a sharply tailored suit.

The producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Ana Martinez, expressed that the star ‘has been a staple in pop culture for decades,’ per an official press release.

Culkin portrayed the leading role of Kevin McCallister in the Home Alone franchise, and starred in other projects during the course of his successful career, such as My Girl (1991) and American Horror Story: Double Feature (2021).

‘He has an extensive trajectory of work but his movie, Home Alone, is one of the most beloved holiday movies known the world over.’

‘How fitting that Catherine O’Hara who played Macaulay’s mother in the film is reuniting with her movie son and will be speaking at the ceremony!’ Ana continued.

Orange Is The New Black alum, Natasha Lyonne, is another speaker set to join the Beetlejuice actress during the event.

In the mid-1990s, Macaulay notably took a break from the entertainment industry but returned to star in Party Monster (2003).

While talking to Vanity Fair earlier in 2018, Culkin revealed that he doesn’t tend to watch his Home Alone films, stating, ‘I don’t really watch them all that often.’

He continued, ‘It’s background radiation at Christmastime. I’ve had people who want to sit down and watch it with me, which is both flattering and creepy.’

When the actor does take time to watch the movies, he admitted that he can’t help recalling memories on the set instead of focusing on the main plot.

‘I’m remembering that day on set, like, how I was hiding my Pepsi behind the couch. I can’t watch it the same way other people can,’ Macaulay informed the outlet.

The star also remembered when he was finally able to receive the income that he made working on numerous projects as a child actor when he turned 18-years-old.

‘I felt like some kid worked really, really hard and I inherited all of his money,’ Culkin expressed.

‘It allows me to treat everything like a hobby. I do nothing for my dinner nowadays. I can do all kinds of projects that I want to do.’

Macaulay’s younger brother, Kieran Culkin, also has success in the industry, and notably starred in Home Alone as cousin Fuller McCallister.

Most recently, he portrayed the character of Roman Roy in the hit HBO series titled Succession (2018-2023).

During an interview with Esquire earlier this year in March, Kieran opened up about his brother’s fame as a child. ‘Even at that time, as a kid, I remember thinking, “That sucks for him.”‘

The star continued, ‘Poor f***ing guy. He was little and having to try to accept that level of fame as reality.’

Macaulay has been keeping busy, and also made an appearance in the HBO show, The Righteous Gemstones, last year in 2022.

He also puts his main focus in raising son Dakota, two, as well as a second child – whose birth was confirmed by Kieran in March – with fiancée, Brenda Song.

The couple were first romantically linked in 2017 and a source informed People in January 2022 that the two stars were engaged.

She later added, ‘Being communicative when you need help is so important. Instead of having set duties, we just feel each other out.’

The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody star also revealed a routine both she and Macaulay follow, explaining they ‘always get into bed and chat about our days and the next day. When I was working he’d wake up with me to chat.’

‘Now we do it at night…It calms me. It sounds small, but I cherish it. It’s nice to wind down with someone you love.’
