Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford shares health update from ‘sickbed’

Ruth Langsford’s remedy as she battles the ‘lurgy’

Ruth Langsford revealed she’d been struck down by illness, and begged followers for advice on home remedies while staying away from the ITV studios.

The sickly star posted a photo of her dog sprawled out under the covers, admitting that fluffy Maggie had joined her for some much-needed rest.

“My sick bed companion!” the 63-year-old, who is married to GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes, joked.

Revealing that she’d “got the lurgy”, she filled a glass full of citrusy remedies such as orange and lemon, plus cinnamon sticks and ginger, which she said she was using to try to get better.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in her remedy kit was “a big splosh of Irish whisky”, which she said would help her sleep, “if nothing else”.

“Today I’m going again with the hot toddy,” she explained as she poured the whisky, before continuing: “Someone’s told me to add turmeric (which I don’t like much!) Any other remedies gratefully received.”

Lemon is believed by many to be a natural cold and flu remedy, as it is said to ease nasal congestion and sore throats, while the Vitamin C it contains can also treat symptoms.

Cinnamon-infused water is also believed to have many of the same properties and is packed with cold-busting antioxidants.

Further footage displayed the star pouring her homemade remedy into a cup as she sat alongside “Nurse Maggie” in bed.

Doctor Amir Khan was among those showing sympathy for Ruth’s predicament, taking to the comments section to say he hopes she gets well soon.

@lizella62 added: “Old fashioned bone broth soup is the best remedy for a cold or flu. Full of anti inflammatory goodness. Grandma really did know best!”

Ruth had been able to drag herself out of bed for long enough to act on recommendations to prepare exactly that, and she shared a video of herself creating it.

However, one fan, @binglemac, quipped: “Could Eamonn not have made you this, darling?”

Meanwhile, others suggested she try “ginger and lemon tea with a sliver of ginger” and “steam inhalations with eucalyptus oil” to get her decongested and back to the world of TV in no time.

@townietocountry wrote: “I hope you’re better soon. Homemade chicken soup is one of the best things you can have!”

@rebecca_barnes_forbes playfully joked: “Get better soon Ruth… is that an Irish Hot Toddy? See you when you wake in a couple of days then!”
