Miriam Margolyes slams ‘horrid’ one-time co-star Steve Martin and calls him an ‘unkind perfectionist’ and her experience filming with actor ‘vile’

Miriam Margoyles has slammed famed comedian Steve Martin after she starred in a film with with him in the Eighties. 

The 82-year-old Harry Potter star worked with Martin on the 1986 movie Little Shop of Horrors, and claims the experience was ‘vile’ and described her American co-star as ‘unkind’.

‘I just thought he was rather horrid. He was a c**t, that’s all I can tell you,’ she alleged in an with News.com.

Margoyles explained she had to share a scene with Martin, now 78, in which he played a dentist and she was a receptionist.

In the scene, her character is ‘punched’ by Martin’s and she explained it took several takes before the funnyman was satisfied.

Margoyles described the Father of the Bride star as a ‘brilliant perfectionist,’ but she felt left out of the process.

‘I didn’t enjoy it and I had a splitting headache at the end of the day,’ she said.

“He (Steve Martin) was incredibly unfriendly, because he was a perfectionist.’

She did have some nice words for Martin though, calling him very ‘gifted’ and her scene in the finished film with him ‘very good’.

Martin, 78, first rose to fame as a stand-up comedian and later starred in Saturday Night Live,  before launching a blockbuster big screen career with the hit movies The Jerk (1979), Three Amigos (1986), and the Father of Bride Franchise.

He is now starring in the hit streaming series Only Murders in The Building on Disney+. 

Margoyles, who appeared last year in the ABC travel series Australia Unmasked, will publish a new memoir on September 12.

She did have some nice words for Martin though, calling him very ‘gifted’ and her scene in the finished film with him ‘very good’ 

Called Oh Miriam!, the book takes readers behind the scenes of the star’s 50-year-career on TV, stage and screen.

Included in the book is an unflattering portrait of rock legend Mick Jagger.

She also reveals she turned down a high-profile role in a Marvel film , because she did not want to live in America. 

Margoyles is best known for playing Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter film series.
