I created a homemade wreath with a personal touch, it's so cheap and all my friends want to copy me | The Sun

A FESTIVE fan has created the perfect decoration for families – and says all her pals have copied her.

Laura Welsh is crazy about Christmas and her decked out house, in East Renfrewshire, is in the running to take top prize in this year’s Scotland’s Christmas Home of the Year.

But there’s one very personal decoration that everyone comments on – and it was super cheap to make.

On Laura’s top landing she has hung a wreath covered in pictures of her little girl Lexie.

The 44-year-old said: “I made a fantastic wreath in the hall. I took pictures of my daughter every year since she was born and got them printed onto polaroid old fashion paper.

“We’ve got pictures all the way from birth through to last year in Lapland. Everyone that comes into the house looks at it and says ‘wow, I’m going to steal that idea’.”

Laura likes to add personal touches throughout her house, which is why she’s in the running for the home title and will be featured on tomorrow night’s BBC programme, battling out against four other Christmas fans.

But she is concerned that her festive obsession is taking over her house, which she shares with her daughter and husband Andrew, 45.

The recruitment firm owner said: “My Christmas boxes are getting larger and larger in the garage to the extent it’s no longer a double garage, it’s a single garage with a Christmas grotto.

“I’ve gradually collected decorations through the years.

“And I love that whole modern look because for the other 11 months of the year my house, and life, is a riot so to get to Christmas time and have perfection when you get home, is amazing.”

Laura, whose home will be judged on telly by interiors experts Anna Campbell-Jones, Banjo Beale and Danny Campbell, picks up ideas for her home from influencers and from home magazines, of which she has a collection of over 100.

But there’s one type of decoration that isn’t top of her list.

She joked: “My daughter is in P2 and makes her own decorations. Whilst she does her best, they probably go towards the back of the tree because I like it to look perfect. But we all have a part to play.”

The mum-of-one loved taking part in the telly show, which airs tomorrow night, but is now nervous to see herself on screen.

She added: “I did love it – now I am getting the fear because it is about to air. I hope it comes across well.”
