I'm a beauty whizz – 5 items to snap up from TkMaxx and ones to avoid, including a cult fave that will dry you out | The Sun

TKMAXX is home to a never-ending stream of affordable beauty buys – but according to one woman, some are best avoided at all costs.

Taking to TikTok, make-up enthusiast Natalie O'Neill revealed which bargain finds are worth your money – and the ones you should steer clear of, including a cult favourite that your skin will hate.

Whilst checking out the latest selection at TK Maxx, Natalie was pleased to find the store had numerous K-beauty items in stock, including posh serums by the brand Beauty by Joseon.

Both of these – Glow Serum and Revive Serum – were priced at £9.99 and the whizz reckoned this was a ''pretty good'' deal.

If you're looking to achieve the on-trend 'glass skin', Natalie advised to stock up on the Glow Serum, which contains propolis and niacinamide.

For those wanting to up their skincare game on the cheap, the beauty fanatic also urged to not sleep on make-up remover cloths.

''These are a smash,'' Natalie said of the £6.99 buy.

''You need to get yourself one of these […]. They're so soft.''

However, not everything in the haul was a win – and unfortunately, the Firming Serum by the high-end skincare brand Kate Somerville had ended up in the 'fails' basket.

Despite the hefty price tag – TK Maxx sell the product for an eye-watering £49.99 – the skincare buy consists of ingredients you can find in most skincare items, such as hyaluronic acid and peptides.

''It's not gonna work. You can find much more effective products at much cheaper prices.

''And the best part is they won't have all of these fragrances and essential oils that this one does,'' she added in the video.

Instead, Natalie recommended a less pricey item she was raving about – Mary & May Centella Asiatica Serum that's great for your skin barrier.

Priced at just £6.99, this is a ''smash'', so you better get racing to the nearest TK Maxx branch to bag the essential.

Another item Natalie advised to steer clear of was Scrub & Glow Vitamin C Radiance Facial Scrub – this, she was convinced, would leave your skin red and irritated.

She added: ''If you don't recognise the brand, a lot of the time it's just going to be garbage. Hard pass.

''Also, no physical exfoliation in 2023. Especially on acne-prone skin.''

This was followed by yet another once-loved cult favourite – Aztec Secret Healing Clay, which can also be snapped up from Amazon.

''Don't buy this. Super drying, just going to cause you endless issues.

''Feels like it's doing more than it is. We need to let it rest now.''

Whilst shopping, Natalie also found a must-have for those with eyelash extensions – a Countoured 3D Blackout Sleep Mask that won't touch your face as much.
