Meghan Markle 'takes the lead' at A-list charity event ahead of 'sheepish' Prince Harry, expert claims | The Sun

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry were special guests at actor Kevin Costner's 'One805 Live!' charity event last night.

And a body language expert has said that the Duchess of Sussex dazzled as she took the lead over a “sheepish” Prince Harry as they presented an award.

The charity event was held in honour of first responders on Friday at Kevin’s $26 million polo field in Santa Barbara.

Meghan and Harry, who have just returned from the Invictus Games in Germany, greeted the Yellowstone actor upon arrival and chatted backstage with his VIP guests.

The glamorous duchess wore an oversized Carolina Herrera poncho, while Harry looked dapper in a black suit.

Judi James told Fabulous: “Meghan clearly stamps this one as ‘Her’ event, with Harry looking slightly sheepish and out of place as they mingle with the guests and celebrities at this Santa Barbara charity bash.

“Meghan’s trait of hand-clenching, with her hands clasped high at chest level and her rather overkill smile shows how delighted she is to be there and the way she steers Harry about makes him look suspiciously like a trophy husband.”

Judi added that a rather awkward moment took place on stage as they presented an award to Kevin.

She said: “A toe-curling moment came as Kevin Costner arrives to accept his award from the pair.

“Harry has been relegated to stand behind his wife so she can for some reason take the award off the stand to hand it to Harry first, placing her in the role of parent.

“She then places a hand on Harry’s back as though steering a small, sheepish child on speech day, with what looks suspiciously like a bit of a push as he steps obediently towards Costner.”

Meghan and Harry joined the likes of A-lister pals Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres at the charitable bash, where 'last chance' tables cost $12,000 (£9,804).

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live nearby in Santa Barbara with their two children, Archie, four, and Lilibet, two.

The couple recently did numerous appearances at the Invictus Games last week, which is a multi-sport event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

They were seen swigging beer at the Invictus volleyball final as they celebrated the Duke’s 39th birthday in style.
