It’s a big night in fashion, attracting A-listers and stylish stars.
But some celebs unfortunately missed this mark at the third annual Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Sunday.
From oddly-coloured ‘nude tones’ to over the top ruffles and garish orange prints, some on the red carpet commanded attention for all the wrong reasons.
Leading the badly-dressed pack was Chrissy Teigen.
In a rare miss for the cookbook-writer, Chrissy, 38, opted for a Tony Ward Haute Couture number with an extreme collar in a mermaid-inspired style.

Meanwhile, Saoirse Ronan looked more dress for the beach than red carpet in a nautical shell-like crop top and coordinated skirt
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model also wore a pair of gold open-toe heels, and carried a small clutch.
Rounding out her overall look, Teigen had her dark brown tresses pulled back off her face and into a stylish bun.
Meanwhile, Saoirse Ronan continued the nautical theme in a shell-like crop top and coordinated skirt.
The 29-year-old star displayed her toned midriff in a white pleated bandeau crop top which she teamed with a matching maxi wrap skirt.
She paired the look with silver heeled sandals and went without a bag as she walked the red carpet.
While Saoirse could be accused of being a little too bland, Lily Gladstone had the opposite problem.
The actress, who got her big break this year in Killer of the Flower Moon opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, opted for a bright orange dress.
With a V-neck line and exaggerated skirt, the star appeared more 1950s that 2020s.
Hari Nef opted for a bizarre nude crop top and ill-fitting black skirt as the Barbie star added to her look with nude nail extensions, and a heavy make-up look
Almost baring all, Hari’s dress featured a very risque back which cut off very low down

A saving grace was her make-up, which exuded Old Hollywood glamour.

Elsewhere, New Girl star Zooey Deschanel appeared to channel more of an old girl in an 80s-inspired ensemble.
The actress, 43, opted for a ShuShu/Tong blue sequin set from the Shanghai-based label’s AW23 collection.
The duck-egg blue ensemble was paired with flats and a silver clutch bag, while oversized frills made the look appear child-like.
Actress JaNae Collins also opted for a throwback look, in leather lace up legwarmers with a one-shoulder dress.

Julia Garner opted for another noughties-inspired look with a semisheer bright yellow dress with a drop waist
She paired the look with vampy make-up and styled her hair with a blunt fringe
On the more drab than fab side, Greta Gerwig (left) opted for a more drab look in a floral Chanel number, while Quinn Wilson wore a lingerie-inspired looked with a deep black slip gown and white lace

On the opposite end of the spectrum, this year’s top director Greta Gerwig opted for a more drab look in a floral Chanel number, while Quinn Wilson wore a lingerie-inspired looked with a deep black slip gown and white lace.
Billie Eilish looked more dressed for the office than a red carpet in double-breasted suit jacket and maxi skirt with a plunging neckline.
The What Was I Made For singer swapped out of her usual street style and baggy attire, as she paired the suit-inspired look with a headscarf and chains.
Meanwhile the Haim sisters, usually style superstars, missed the mark in bland monotone numbers.
Este, Danielle and Alana wore cut out dressed with drop waists and maxi skirts.
This year’s fundraiser honoured legendary actress Meryl Streep, Creed actor and director Michael B. Jordan, Lost In Translation filmmaker Sofia Coppola and media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
