A debut for Sofyan Amrabat as he comes on for his first Man United appearance in place of Jonny Evans.
SUB – Burnley

Rashford delays
Marcus Rashford almost puts the game to bed with a United counterattack. But he can’t find the half-yard to get his shot in and his crowded out by the Burnley defence.

The home side have slightly upped the ante with 10 minutes to go, forcing a corner which Berger meets but it bounces off his shoulder and over the bar.
SUB – Manchester United
Raphael Varane makes his return, but it’s in place of Sergio Reguilon who looks to have suffered a hamstring injury.
Immediate impact
Almost an immediate impact from Brunn Larsen as he gets in behind the United defence but his touch is too strong and allows Onana to gather the ball.
SUBS – Burnley
A triple change for Burnley as Sander Berge, Jay Rodriguez and Jacob Bruun Larsen are on for Aaron Ramsey, Luca Koleosho and Zeki Amdouni.
Burnley's patter gone
The zip Burnley had in the first half has all but disappeared and they are failing to really test United now.
Vincent Kompany has spoken to a number of players on the bench and changes could be on their way.
No second half spark
The second half lacking the same openings as the first.
Next goal really will be a big one in the game.
Goal-scoring challenge
Great defensive work from Al-Dakhil who gets in front of Rasmus Hojlund to prevent him meeting Marcus Rashford’s clever knockdown.

SECOND HALF
United kick-off and it’s away we go again.
Evans assist
Jonny Evans’ assist was the Northern Irishman’s first assist since laying on a goal for Wayne Rooney in a 1-0 win over Fulham on 2 February 2013.
A decade wonder.
Half time thoughts
Burnley can count themselves really unlucky to be behind at half-time, as they were arguably the better team for the majority of the first 45 minutes. Vincent Kompany’s side kept to the style and played some great football, notably from the likes of Josh Brownhill, Aaron Ramsey and Luca Koleosho, and even hit the post when Zeki Amdouni’s shot rebounded off the woodwork.
The one bit of quality from United though is the difference between the two sides. Surprise starter Jonny Evans – who already had a goal ruled out by VAR – sent a long ball into the box and it was finished with aplomb by Bruno Fernandes on the volley. The captain leading by example, just when Erik ten Hag needs him.
HALF TIME – Burnley 0-1 Manchester United
That’s the half-time whistle, with Man Utd taking the lead thanks to Bruno Fernandes well taken strike.
Added time
There are three minutes of added time at Turf Moor.

Jonny Evans lifts a long ball into the box and the Portuguese ghosts in between two defenders to meet the ball on the volley and arrow it into the bottom corner.
Advantage United.

Casemiro showing signs
Casemiro showing signs of recapturing his form with a big tackle on Josh Brownhill in the centre of the park.
Neat, neat stuff
Some of Burnley’s football really is easy on the eye. The only thing lacking is perhaps a focal point in attack to finish off their neat build-ups.
United's VAR misery
It seems United can’t get a break when it comes to VAR at the mo, Nathan Salt recalls.
Hojlund's half yard
First sight of goal for Rasmus Hojlund, who manages to roll the defender in the box to give himself space, but his shot is wide of goal.
VAR Rules out Jonny Evans goal
Almost a fairytale return for Jonny Evans who thought he had headed United in the lead from a Bruno Fernandes corner.
The goal is chalked off on VAR review after spotting Rasmus Hojlund in an offisde position and impeding Burnley keeper James Trafford.
Fans not happy with McTominay
Nathan Salt has seen some more complaints aimed in the direction of Scott McTominay from the away fans…
SUB – BURNLEY
Burnley forced into an early change, as an injury to Johann Gudmundsson sees the Clarets replace him with summer signing Mike Tresor.
Hannibal's position
Off the post
Burnley so close to taking the lead.
Aaron Ramsey slides the ball into the path of Zeki Amdouni, whose shot beats Onana but cannons off the inside of the post and is then cleared by United.
BOOKING – Dalot
Diogo Dalot is the first name in the book after he hacks down Luca Koleosho on the left flank.
Onana to the rescue
Burnley’s turn to test the goalie, as the Clarets implement their slick movement on United and a Connor Robertscross is met by the head of Zeki Amdouni, which is well saved by Andre Onana.
First chance
First big chance of the evening, as Marcus Rashford plays in Bruno Fernandes after a neat United move.
The Portuguese hits a shot that stings the palms of James Trafford and Burnley manage to clear their lines.

However, the England man is crowded out and his shot is blocked at the near post.
