Horse trainer hits out at Frankie Dettori for 'horrible' ride and says she was left 'gutted' | The Sun

A TOP horse trainer has hit out at Frankie Dettori for his 'horrible' ride and said she was left 'gutted' after the jockey finished second-last.

Dettori's global retirement tour took in Bro Park in Stockholm over the weekend.

He toasted Listed success for trainer Annike Bye Hansen with victory on 8-1 Takeko in the Lanwades Stud Stakes.

Victory there was worth a shade over £30,000 but it was the Group 3 Stockholm Cup that the duo really wanted to win.

Hansen said she had no idea why Dettori wanted to race in the Swedish capital but was happy to have him jocked up on Hard One To Please… until the race started.

The 11-4 chance won it last year but had no chance in this year's feature after Dettori admitted he had pulled off a 'horrible' ride.

Hard One To Please weakened rapidly from three furlongs out after failing to find any cover in-running.

He finished finished eight lengths behind winner Espen Hill, with Hollie Doyle and Archie Watson teaming up for second with Outbox.

Hansen said Dettori held his hands up after the race – but she still stuck the knife in when speaking on the Nick Luck podcast.

"I wasn't very happy about that but then he bounced back to win the next race on my filly.

"There were a lot of people there and it was a big crowd. Of course, Frankie got lots of attention.

"He wanted to come to Stockholm for some reason, I wouldn't know why.

"They called and asked if we wanted him to ride our two horses.

"He should have covered up Hard One To Please, he was too keen and he never got him settled

"He held his hands up and said, 'I'm sorry, I rode a terrible race'.

"I'm gutted about it, it was a very good chance to win and he won last year – but that's life and that's racing

"Frankie was brilliant on the other horse and she won going away, so that was very nice."
