    Harry Maguire Exclusive update

West Ham have re-opened talks with Manchester United over Harry Maguire, writes SunSport's Alan Nixon.

But the Hammers are well short of completing the deal as they are trying to find a way to pay a little more to help United pay off Maguire.

The East Londoners previously agreed a £30million deal but the centre-back has two years left on his Old Trafford contract and is demanding a hefty pay-off.

West Ham agreed a four-year deal on £120,000 a week — which is a £70,000 weekly cut from his salary.

Therefore, the Red Devils offered the England international a £6m bonus but he wants more than that as, if he stayed and saw out his deal he would command higher wages as a free transfer.

United want a sale to finance other signings and David Moyes' team hopes a compromise could be reached before Friday's transfer deadline day.

    Ryan Gravenberch swap

Manchester United could sign Bayern Munich star Ryan Gravenberch in a sensational swap deal.

According to Sport Bild, Bayern are keen for a loan deal involving Ryan Gravenberch being exchanged for Scott McTominay.

The Red Devils are interested in landing the Netherlands international, who is known to manager Erik ten Hag from his days at Ajax and is out of favour under Thomas Tuchel.

The German champions are happy to loan the midfielder out but are keen on signing McTominay on a temporary deal as his direct replacement.

    Mag-pied

Man Utd have reportedly told Harry Maguire that he will NOT leave the club this summer.

West Ham had agreed to a £30million deal for Maguire earlier in the window, but the move collapsed.

This was because Maguire, 30, demanded a massive £15m pay-off to leave Old Trafford.

However, according to Sky Sports, a move is currently off, with Maguire's pay-off demands being the "sticking point".

He has two years left of his current deal at Old Trafford, which would be worth £19.7m.

    Neville relieved by wins

Gary Neville has admitted he is relieved United beat both Wolves and Nottingham Forest or they'd be under big pressure with tough fixtures to come.

United face Arsenal and Brighton in their next two.

Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, he explained: "You always feel under Ten Hag, they're not fluid at all at this stage of the season. They're always scruffy the first few weeks.

"You think about the Wolves game where Wolves were really unlucky not to get the victory. Nottingham Forest will feel really hard done by too. They also got beat at Tottenham."

As for the clash with Arsenal, he added: "They've got a match against Arsenal, which will be really interesting because Arsenal slipped up.

"United, it isn't quite going for them yet. It isn't quite happening… but they've put six points on the board. I think that somehow, that's quite important.

"Two tough away games with Tottenham and now Arsenal. If they hadn't won their home games they'd be under pressure."

Manchester United have offered Anthony Martial to Real Madrid for around £13million, according to reports.

The Red Devils are claimed to be keen on shifting the Frenchman before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti last week ruled out making another signing this month.

He said: “I rule it out. One hundred per cent.”

But United’s cut-price offer on a player that cost them around £50million in 2015 could tempt Real Madrid back into the market.

    Two more needed

Gary Neville believes Man Utd need to sign two more players this transfer window, not including goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who is expected to arrive for £4m from Fenerbahce.

Neville said: "There's no doubt they want another player or two.

"A left-back and central midfield player and I think they need that or else they're going to get put under real pressure, particularly when all the other competitions kick in.

"I think there is another one or two players needed just to beef up the squad because of injuries and he does want another midfield player to sit in there alongside Casemiro."

    Well I Nev-er

Arsenal meet Man Utd next week and Gary Neville believes Mikel Arteta will deploy his usual tactics after tweaking some things in the opening three games of the season.

Arteta has played Partey at right-back, Kiwior played out of position at left-back, and he started without an out-and-out striker in their draw to Fulham at the weekend with the team looking less solid defensively.

Neville said: "I’d expect next week Arteta is going to end that experiment and go with a solid back four.

"Move Partey into midfield with Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard. Get back to something which resembles what a team should look like.

"They’ll go back to the basics of 4-3-3. Manchester United are decent on the counter-attack but it is a big test for them.

"Their performances so far this season have been below par. If you’re below par at the Emirates you will get beaten.

"United have to rise and raise their game, but Arsenal need to sort themselves out too.”

However, the deal remains a long way from an agreement and West Ham are ready to move on with a centre-back no longer a priority.

Manchester United are set to battle it out over Bayern Munich ace Ryan Gravenberch with Premier League rivals Liverpool.
