A Place in the Sun: House hunters turn down inviting property
A Place in the Sun viewers were left less than impressed with one couple’s decision as they turned down a villa for the family.
On Thursday’s episode of the Channel 4 show fans saw property expert Danni Menzies try to find Tony and Hendrik their ideal holiday home.
Jetting off to Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula, fans learnt the two men were looking for a two-bedroom property with a budget of £330,000.
As Danni showed the duo a range of properties to try and meet their needs, it was clear Tony and Hendrik had a tough decision as they enjoyed them all.
Off the bat, it was clear they were blown away with an apartment in Sesimbra which had a balcony with sea views, an open planned living dining room and a separate kitchen.

However, when Danni showed them the final property, a three-bedroom villa with its own swimming pool in Palmela, the two men were conflicted.
Stating the pool would be ideal for their two daughters, they told Danni she’d thrown a spanner in the works.
When it came to making a decision, the expert asked them to reveal which properties they had ruled out first.
One of the men said: “The first one we wrote off was the house with the pool, kids are going to hate us for this.
“But we just felt it was just too far away from the town and city for us, we realise that’s important.”

They then revealed they’d decided not to go ahead with the property in Setubal, much to Danni’s shock.
Gasping, she shouted: “No! I would’ve put money on it being that one.”
Sharing their reason for turning it down, the buyers revealed it didn’t give them the holiday destination feel they were looking for.
Instead, they were interested in the first place they looked, the apartment complex in Sesimbra.
On the market for just over £337,500, Danni explained they had to stay around the asking price which they agreed and were accepted.
Although, it wasn’t long before viewers were quick to share their thoughts on Tony and Hendrick’s decision with many disagreeing.

@MichZiff tweeted: “Lovely couple on today’s #aplaceinthesun but with two young daughters that apartment is the wrong choice. nowhere for the kids to run around on that small balcony so what’s the point?”
