Antiques Roadshow: Gust stunned at jewellery bought at car boot
Antiques Roadshow fans were left open jawed when a woman’s car boot sale finds turned out to be worth a small fortune as the show broadcast from Alexandra Gardens in Cardiff.
Last Sunday‘s episode (October 8) saw a woman bring along several items of jewellery that she had purchased randomly in the sales to be appraised by expert Joanna Hardy.
“Someone had just put it down, the sun was shining and it just came at me,” she said explaining what had compelled her to make the purchases.
The first item she brought out for valuation was a bracelet with a 22-carat golden chain and green stones.
However, although she bought it for a mere £3.50, the stones turned out to be real emeralds.

She also presented several brooches for valuation. The first was a pretty flower brooch with three diamonds surrounded by 18-carat gold.
She also had another flower brooch that was slightly broken which she admitted she only paid £1 for.
Her final item was another golden brooch that was not from a car boot but was still a bargain as she paid a mere £1.50 for it.
As the woman looked on expectantly Joanna revealed that each of the items was worth a lot of money.
The broken flower brooch alone was valued at a whopping £3,000-£4,000 due to “each of the petals being beautiful set sapphires with diamonds around each of the flower heads”.
