BBC Breakfast host reacts as they suffer awkward wardrobe malfunction on air

BBC Breakfast presenter Ben Thompson suffered an awkward wardrobe malfunction as he presented Sunday's edition of the morning news programme.

As he was speaking to BBC's Chief Political Correspondent Ben Zeffman about the forthcoming Labour Party Conference, an eagle-eyed fan spotted something amiss.

They took to social media to point out that Ben had a hole in the corner of his right sleeve on his suit jacket, which was shown as he stood talking to the camera.

Ben seemed totally unaware of the blunder, but responded to the fan when they posted it on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The viewer penned: "Hello breakfast team can you please tell Ben he has a hole in his jacket under his right arm I just wanted to let him know ok."

Ben replied: "Don't know my own strength! Thanks for spotting!"

Meanwhile, Ben and his co-star Naga Munchetty were caught in an awkward moment with weather presenter Matt Taylor during Saturday's version of the show.

Matt told viewers at home that there would be a big contrast in the weather between the north and the south, and Naga shared her thoughts on the interchangeable weather at the moment.

He said: "It won't be until we get to around Thursday before we start to see the cooler conditions return to the south of the country, so it will stay warm until the start of next week. Back to you Ben and Naga."

Naga replied: "So on the tail of north and south, some people would be very happy with those temperatures, I heard someone say the other day, I like the seasons, I like the fact that we have seasons, I don't want summer to carry on."

Matt responded: "Completely different seasons, but to go with the rain across Scotland, believe it or not there could be some snow across the mountains, so how is that for contrast?"

Naga sighed: "Oh I wish I hadn't asked now, I thought it would be a milder contrast than that," as Ben responded: "Too far, Matt, too far."

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC1.
