Colorado’s Win Over TCU Draws Record Audience For Fox As Second Most-Watched Week 1 College Football Matchup

Fox scored a record audience with its broadcast of Colorado’s win against TCU on Saturday.

The football game, which was watched by nearly 7.3M people, was the most-watched telecast of the day on any network. It also set the record for Fox’s most-watched Week 1 Big Noon Saturday matchup ever — up 17% over the program’s 2022 average (an audience of about 6.2M).

On Fox Sports’ digital platforms, the game also managed to become the fourth most-streamed college football game in the network’s history.

Colorado pulled out a stunning 45-42 victory over No. 17 TCU during the game, which marked the first for head coach Deion Sanders after the pro football hall of famer had overhauled the team in hopes of accomplishing just that.

Sanders came to Colorado after finding success at Jackson State University, leading them to a historic, undefeated SWAC championship season that was chronicled in the Prime Video documentary series Coach Prime.

College football fans tuned in to see whether the revamped Colorado team would show out, making the game the second most-watched college football matchup for the week, behind only FSU vs. LSU.

It looks like Fox is banking on Sanders and his Colorado team to drive another strong showing for the network next Saturday, as they reminded fans to catch Coach Prime on September 9 when Colorado faces No. 22 Nebraska.
