Coronation Street: The Barlow’s interrogate Peter

Coronation Street’s Ed Bailey (played by Michael Georges) could be set to lose his entire family as he lets his gambling addiction once again rule his life.

Ed has been in denial that his gambling addiction has returned but in upcoming scenes, he is set to get a fright and his addiction could be exposed.

Official spoilers reveal that Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) reveals that he’s had a call from a property developer mate and he’d like them to oversee the conversion of the Rovers into flats.

Whilst, Ed’s delighted whilst Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) warns him that he’ll have the whole street against him.

Michael tells Ed that Grandad Sarge (Ram John Holder) called and he’ll be joining them for Christmas, while Dee-Dee Bailey (Shannique Sterling-Brown) invites Joel Derring (Callum Lill) to join the family too.

In the cafe Ed promises Tony that he’ll pay him his wages today, however, when he goes to pay for his coffee and Norris Cole’s (Malcolm Hebden) card is declined, he can feel the panic rising.

Later, Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) opens a letter addressed to Norris informing him that his credit card has been frozen due to suspicious activity.

Ed panics, is his gambling about to be exposed? Will Michael put two and two together and realise that his dad has fallen into the gambling trap again?

Coronation Street boss Ian MacLeod previously opened up about what is to come for the Bailey family and admitted the worst is still to come.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press: “In the run-up to Christmas, Ed’s problems are spiralling and mounting and it will culminate in him hitting rock bottom shortly before Christmas.

“In an effort to keep the walls from the door, he is forced to do something extremely upsetting for him and commit what he would see as an awful betrayal.

“From a viewer point of view, it is desperately sad, Ed will feel like he has let himself down in the worst conceivable way.

“This is a desperate man who has had his issues over the years where he has been driven to desperation where he does this thing.

“Inevitably it stays a secret for a time but there is an explosive storyline that deals with the family discovering what he has done and being cast out into the wilderness.

“There is a loyalty battle between the children on which of them is sticking by his dad and which will kind of drift.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
