Corries Christmas sees Bethany Platt return as Damon takes ultimate revenge

Coronation Street fans can expect plenty of drama in the New Year as Bethany Platt makes an explosive return to the Cobbles.

Fireworks are in store for Sarah (Tina O'Brien) when her daughter arrives for a surprise visit after more than three years away from the street. But fans will be left wondering whether there is more to her sudden arrival than just a simple family catch up.

As well as having Bethany (Lucy Fallon) back, Sarah’s also rocked by the return of ex Damon (Ciarán Joseph Griffiths). Fans will remember Damon had an affair with Sarah which resulted in her pregnancy.

After Sarah's husband Adam (Sam Robertson) discovered their relationship, he tracked down Damon's criminal contact Niall to claim that Damon was planning to grass on him to the police, forcing him to go on the run.

Since Damon's departure, Sarah and Adam have grown closer. After spending a promising New Year’s Eve with her estranged husband, it looks like a reconciliation could be on the cards.

But just as Sarah dares to dream, Damon walks back into her life, determined to take his revenge on Adam and win back the love of his life. Speaking ahead of the Christmas episodes, Tina and Lucy sat down for an interview alongside Charlotte Jordan, who plays Daisy Midgely.

Asked what she would buy her character for Christmas, Tina, 40, responded: "For Sarah, maybe a book on the mistakes not to make in the pursuit of pleasure!" Meanwhile Daisy, 28, couldn't help but touch upon her character's affair with Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), saying: "I don’t know if I’d buy Daisy anything, she’s on the naughty list this year."

The soap stars also revealed what they are hoping for this Christmas. Lucy, 28, laughed: "Maybe something sparkly, to go on my left hand. She added: "I do have a list, Ryan sends me a list so it’s only fair that I send him a bigger list."

While Charlotte said: "I think it’s important to be very clear about what you’d perhaps like. My boyfriend went rogue last year and it was a disaster. Over the Christmas period, Daisy is feeling far from festive as her future is up in the air after her affair with Ryan is exposed. Although Daniel has turned his back on her, Daisy refuses to give up and is hopeful for a reconciliation.

Elsewhere on the soap, Peter (Chris Gascoyne) bids farewell to Weatherfield in what’s both a heart warming and heartbreaking Christmas for Carla (Alison King). And when Rob Donovan’s son comes knocking on "Auntie Carla’s" door, whirlwind Bobby soon throws her life into a spin.
